Rope Bondage and Shibari
What is Shibari?
Shibari is a Japanese style of rope bondage which draws its origins from a method of restraint and torture known as Hojo-jutsu. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Hojo-jutsu morphed into the erotic bondage known as Kinbaku, which translates as ‘the beauty of tight binding’ and eventually into modern Shibari.
A distinctive feature of this type of bondage is its aesthetic: in rendering the subject helpless, they are also transformed into a subject of beauty. Shibari bondage creates patterns with rope which contrast and complement the natural curves of the body. The art is found in juxtapositions of bare skin against rough rope, strength against exposure and a sense of calm within the constriction; the submissive therefore becomes the canvass, the rope is the medium and the Dominarix becomes the artist. As with so many D/s experiences, Shibari is created and experienced by all involved.
My journey into this form of bondage
Since continuous professional development is deeply important to me, some time ago I decided to add shibari, this art of rope bondage, to my repertoire as a professional Mistress. Shibari has always been a particular personal kink of mine as well, so I thought it would be a good idea to bring my skills up to a professional level. Rope bondage and shibari are demanding and time-consuming skills to master, and most Pro Dommes are simply too busy to study and practice the history, art and inescapably beautiful execution of shibari. I strive to be one of the Dommes who can truly call herself a master of this form and have taken the time and effort necessary to learn all the necessary techniques, styles, knots and safety measures so that I might create rewarding and exquisite experiences for both Dominant and the submissive.
I have spent (and am still spending) the many hours of practice that are required in order to be able to tie someone up safely, skilfully, and with the intimacy required to make it into an enjoyable process. It is my goal to create restraint and helplessness in my slaves while doing so with the art and aesthetic of classical and modern shibari. In order to prolong the experience, I am skilful in my ability to bind slaves fully and completely yet without creating too much discomfort… or just the right amount of discomfort… and always in a way that is safe.
What I offer
Floor rope – In floor rope, as opposed to suspension poses, you’re going to be restrained while being on the ground (or in my case on a comfy rug). A hog tie can be an example of rope floor work. This type of bondage is suitable for anyone from a beginner to an advanced and experienced player. It all depends how strict I make it; how much rope is used and what position you’re in.
Predicament bondage – You will be restrained in a bondage position that gives you an ability to shift from one uncomfortable position to another, relieving stress on one part of your body only to experience it in another, the two wickedly building in time together until there is no escape. The predicament is caused by muscle fatigue such as standing on your tiptoes which, if relieved by lowering yourself, only increases the pull of a rope on your genitals. then forces you to choose a more painful position, for example one in which rope pulls on your genitals. Not for the faint-hearted.
Partial suspension – As the name implies, this is not full suspension but much of your weight will be held by the ropes while still permitting some contact with the ground. If you already have some experience with rope bondage and would like to find out whether a more stressed position is something you can maintain while we play, then this is an option I recommend.
Suspension – An advanced technique suitable for more adventurous players, and those with some previous experience with rope bondage, suspension bondage will have you floating—not literally, but you will feel like you are as I play with you while you are so ultimately helpless.
What types of BDSM play are suitable while you’re in rope bondage?
Depending on your interests, how strict the bondage is, and how experienced you are, I am always willing to add a few fetishes into the mix. These might be sensual sensation play including nipple play, body worship and sensory deprivation or something rougher like CBT and impact play.
